Transmog Guide: Patch 5.2 New Sets

Post by Twiztid on Tue 12 Nov 2013, 1:25 pm

Continuing with our series of transmog guides, today's guide looks at all the new sets and models added in Patch 5.2. There were many new sets from Tier 15 (PvE) and Season 13 (PvP), but there were also troll-themed armor piece dropping on Isle of Thunder. Mouseover the name of each transmog set to see a screenshot of the set.

We've updated our two big guides:

  • Transmogrification: Tier Armor: covers all class-specific tier sets--both PvE and PvP.

  • Transmogrification: Look-Alike Tier: covers all items that resemble class-only tier, which anyone can equip.
In addition, the following guides specifically cover 5.2 transmog:

  • Patch 5.2: Troll Transmog: New looks based on items from the original Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman.

  • 3D Gallery of Main-Hand weapons: Weapons that used to be Main-Hand that are now One-Handed in 5.2.

  • These tokens are turned into tier from Ao Pye in Townlong Steppes or Teng of the Flying Daggers on the Isle of Thunder.

    • Helm: LFR, normal, and heroic tokens from Twin Consorts in Throne of Thunder.

Season 13 PvP Sets

  • There are three recolors of Season 13 gear--Alliance, Horde and Elite sets.

  • Alliance and Horde Tyrannical sets are ilvl 493. The Alliance set is sold by Lucan Malory and the Horde set is sold by Doris Chiltonius.

    • Helm: 2250
    • Shoulders: 1750
    • Chest: 2250
    • Gloves: 1750
    • Legs: 2200

  • Elite gear now requires players to achieve  Tyrannical Conquest, instead of having a 2200 ranking. This gear is currently ilvl 512, but in 5.3 it will simply serve as vanity gear due to the ilvl 496 cap in Arenas and RBGs. It appears to be purchased from the following NPCs: Armsmaster HolinkaAcon DeathwielderEthan NaticeRoo Desvin.

Troll Transmog
Mobs on Throne of Thunder and Lei Shen's Burial Trove in Troves of the Thunder King have a low chance to have green BoEs that bring back a ton of old troll designs, made inaccessible when the original versions of Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman were removed. Our troll transmog guide covers the artwork details behind all of these sets, as well as revisited weapon models that are also obtainable again.
NameDescriptionOriginal
Amani Regaliablue, greenFirst seen in original Zul'Aman.
Amani Regaliared, purpleFirst seen in original Zul'Aman.
Exiled Dabblergrey, blueZul'Gurub Warlock set.
Amani Raimentblack, greenFirst seen in original Zul'Aman.
Amani Mailred, goldFirst seen in original Zul'Aman.
Amani Platered, brownFirst seen in original Zul'Aman.
Zandalari Vindicatorblue, redZul'Gurub Warrior set.
Zandalari FreethinkergoldZul'Gurub Paladin set.

In addition, several incomplete old transmog sets have been filled out:

  • The red Amani Raiment set now has matching shoulders:  Bloodtusk Shoulderpads.
  • The purple Amani Mail set now has matching boots:  Lifestep Treads.
  • The green Amani Mail set now has an obtainable chest:  Deathbog Hauberk
  • The Heavy Scorpid Set now has boots:  Battered Saurscale Boots.
  • The Nightscape Garb got a few more duplicate items, like  Discarded Swampstalker Tunic.
  • The ZG Warlock set received gloves, bracers, and pants with new artwork.

I've been having lots of fun with the Transmogging gear the past month or so. There are some interesting looks out there. Sadly the hat/daggers I like for the rogue are way higher than I can equp, but so far so good. I've found some 'grey' items I wish we could transmog, but can't.

This is ziboo, the rogue in her black scouting gear.

If only there was a non-class specific version of the Warlock Tyrannical set, it's so awesome.

Copypaste issue, had lines for Tier 14 and Tier 15 ilvls included. Should be fixed now.

We've found that human female is a pretty generic model to use. We experimented during MoP's beta with other races for 3D previews, and users have complained that skinnier or more fantastical races warp the shapes more, some races hide feet, Undead bones distort pants/chests etc. You can select a default race/gender for the 3D Modelviewer under User Settings, so when you look at the actual 3D Models, it always displays as what you want.
