Define CSS serif and sans serif
Lesson 2. CSS font style and font size

CSS forms and font family:
font-family:
Code:
Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif
Code:
Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif
Code:
'Times New Roman', Times, serif
Code:
'Courier New', Courier, monospace

Result
Code:
A family of sans serif fonts
Code:
The family of serif fonts
Code:
A family of proportional fonts

Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif - sans serif font family:

E

Times New Roman, Times, serif - a family of serif fonts:

E

Courier New, Courier, monospace - monospaced fonts family

E

Another example of formatting:

Code:
<title> CSS Fonts and examples of formatting </ title>
<style type="text/css">
p {
font-family: 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 18px;
font-style: italic
}
</ style>
</ head>
<body>
<div> Plain text </ div>
<p>
Text bold, size 18 pixels, italic, Times New Roman family
</ p>
</ body>

In the above description applies to the style sections of this document. Attribute font-family: contains three different font, one family (serif). Indicate they may be in a different order, but will be applied first or second if the browser can not find on your computer first font set, or third, if your browser program does not read the first two. When writing code, name, consisting of several words are quoted, for example, 'Times New Roman'.

For web-sites recommended sans serif fonts that do not impede reading of the text.

Sans-serif fonts is a member of the family of fonts without serifs. It includes Verdana, Geneva, and others. If the code is to prescribe: font-family: sans-serif - the program will choose the browser on your computer one of the sans serif font, for example, Verdana. If we denote: font-family: serif - will be selected font family serif, for example, Times. CSS atribut the value of font-family: monospace - set the fixed width font, for example, Courier New.

Atribut CSS font-family: determine your choice, type of font. You can set a font, but there is not any guarantee that he will be present on your computer. If it is not there, the browser program can not correctly interpret that you specified, fonts.

CSS and bold italic : :mrgreen:

Define italics:

CSS attribute with a value style = "font-style: italic" defines italics.

Define bold font:

CSS prisoners style = "font-weight: bold" defines the bold.

We define the normal amount of font:

The line style = "font-weight: 300" converts the bold to normal.

CSS font size

An example of a change in size:

Code:
<head>
<style type="text/css">
p {font-size: 13px}
p.big {font-size: 16px}
</ style>
</ head>
<p> text string size of 13 pixels. </ p>
<p class="big"> text string of 16 pixels. </ p>

result:

Text line size of 13 pixels.

A text string of 16 pixels.
